Francis Webster died of Phenmonia at his Meliville Road home. One grave marker contains all four names.
Donald Hendon in letter to Tom Cutcliffe dated 11/11/99 states that he found records that show that Francis was bapitzed at St. Peters Church in Barnstaple on September 24, 1832.
" Francis Webster Cutcliffe was born in Barhstaple, England. He came to Canada with his father, Richard Cutcliffe in 1843. He was buried in Hurtville Cemetery, P.E.I., Canada.
Most all the Cutcliffe boys were cabinet makers or carpenters in the early days in P.E.I. Although Francis built all of his furniture and farm buildings, he farmed most of his life on the old homestead near South Melville, P.E.I., Canada. It was from this old farm that the Cutclffe family in the New World was born and fanned out over the North American Continent. All of the furniture used on the farm was hand made, (without nails). Some pieces still are in use, (as of 1970), at Mrs. Harold Cutcliffe's home. Fancis Cutcliffe had the hand made tools, brought from England by Richard Cutcliffe, for years. He always kept the tools locked up in the tool shed. A person was priviledged to see them unless he was working with them.
Francis built the Anglican Church which, (in 1970), was still in use at Crapoud, P.E.I., Canada. Francis was on the island before P.E.I. was granted self government (1851). In 1864 there was a conference in Charlottetown for the Federation of all Canada. Before William R. Cutcliffe left P.E.I. for the United States, he remembers his father telling him about the Charlottetown Conference.Ó
