Narrative

Veronica Mary was born at Liecombe and lived with her family, at 9 Beatrice Street, Lidcombe until she married. She was educated at Lidcombe Primary School, and Secondary at Our Lady of Mercy College, Parramatta. She got the nickname ÒLassieÓ because she was the first surviving girl born after three boys. Lass worked as a Secretary in the AWA building in Sydney. Thomas was an auditor for the Railways. They married on 17th September 1932, a month after her brother, Desmond. When World War 2 broke out, Tom joined the army and served time in Chiro with the 9th Division. In 1953 he was elected to State Parliament (N.S.W.), later becoming a Parlimentary Minister. Lass died suddenly of a cerebral haemorrhage just after Christmas, 31st December 1967. Tom died of a heart attack on the 11th September 1978.
