Living 1876 and 1887. Only child of Charles and Henrietta. Builder of The second Lee Manor, Lee Bay, County of Devon. The following story was told to Thomas Franklin Cutcliffe on his trip to Lee Bay, Devon, England in 1989: The first Manor house in Lee Bay was located on the valley floor near the bay at Lee. It is thought that a portion of an old hotel at Lee Bay, that was closest to the bay, was part of the old Manor house. The Vicor of St. Mathews Chapel at Lee Bay decided to build his house on a hill overlooking Lee Bay and the Manor House. Charles Bernard Cutcliffe was not happy about someone building a house that would look over his Manor. In addition Charles wife Emilia did not enjoy living so close to the sounds and cold of the bay. Charles decided to build a new Manor house on a location that would overlook both the new house of the Vicor and Lee Bay, yet be more sheltered so that his wife would be satisfied. Unfortunately, Emilia died before the new Manor was completed.
