"Lawrence Cutlyff, the second son of Thomas Cutlyff and Joan Gernoune, and heir of his elder brother John Cutlyff, was living in 1505, when, as stated in the introductory note, he was one of the witnesses to a charter of enfeoffment, dated 21 Henry VII., By John Draper and William Blanchard to Richard Leyman and Agnes his wife, of hereditaments in Herton, in the parish of Stoke St. Nectan, and who in 1541 was possessed of estates in Ilfracombe, including Warcombe, Leigh, Ford and Damage; which in that year, by deed dated 4th August, 33 Henry VIII, he conveyed to Robert Pollard and John Husband, upon trust for himself for life, with remainder to John Cutlyff, "consanguines et hered mei," and Katherine, then wife of said John, and the heirs of said John, with divers remainders over in the event of his death without issue. On Lawrence Cutlyff's death, his successor was John Cutcliffe.Ó
