"Mary, bapt. at Ilfracombe 1663-4 married in 1684 to Thomas Newell of Easewell. She died 1700, aged 38 years, and was buried at Morthoe, where, in the chancel of the parish church, a gravestone and tablet doubly record her many virtues. She left at her death four sons and three daughters."
