Source, Mary Young: Samuel Drew Cutcliffe was born February 5, 1843 in Syracuse, New York, USA. He was one of the founders of the Oak (or Hope) Chapel Mission in Syracuse. Samuel served in the American Civil War as a Sergeant, Company B of 122nd, New York Volunteer Infantry Regiment, County of Onondaga, State of New York. He was wounded in the head by a mini-ball during an engagement in Cold Harbor, Virginia on June 1, 1864. Samuel returned to the ranks on April 30, 1865. He served as a guard for Confederate prisoners at Johnson's Island, Ohio until he was mustered out with company on June 23, 1865 in Washington, D.C.. Samuel settled in Sandusky, Ohio after the war. He was Baptist and married Catherine (Kittie) M. Perry on July 3, 1866 in Sandusky, Ohio. Kittie is buried in Oakland Cemetery, Sandusky, Ohio. Samuel died from a wound to the head on March 18, 1887 and is also buried in Oakland Cemetery, Lot 23, Block 59, Grave 1.
