"John Lloyd Cutcliffe, the first son of Frank and Winifred attended Wales College, Charlottetown; Mount Attison University and Nova Scotia Technical College. He won the Goverrnor Generals Medal for leading his class from Technical College, Halifax. He attended Massachusetts Institute Of Technology and received his Masters Degree in Civil Engineering. He taught at M.I.T., then continued his studies towards his PhD. He became interested in critical path method of planning, scheduling and controlling construction. At M.I.T. he supervised a total of five theses in this area. he lectured widely in the U.S.A. on this phase of work and had several publications. This intelligent, devoted family man, and young wife and infant son met tragedy and untimely deaths when all three perished in a plane accident in 1963."
